Workers are people

I mentioned in my previous post that one of the 3 things to happen over the last few weeks was the dissolution of my department at work. Some people may say "so what? Re-orgs happen all the time!". I agree, its not the fact that the re-org occurred its the possible why and how it was handled.
Staff are people - they aren't just names on an org-chart or position statistics. They are living, feeling, breathing people who take pride in the work that they do.
Our re-org wasn't planned with any manager feedback or consultation. Executive made a decision based on the actions of 1 individual and in the process completely disrespected 12 people. Usually the saying is "the good of the many outweigh the good of the few", but in this case that didn't happen.
The end result is a team that feels tossed aside when they do good work and mandated work. No deadlines were ever missed, nothing was done incorrectly, we just don't matter as people and its purely a numbers game.
